October - National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

National Domestic Violence Awareness Month began in 1987. Using the month of October as a month to increase awareness in families about domestic violence and provide the proper resources to those who made need help organizations all over the country plan awareness events to bring attention to the damaging effects that can come from such violence. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence intended for this to connect advocates across the United States who work to end domestic violence.

Each October the state of Utah hosts a variety of events to help inform the public and bring attention to the resources that are available in our state to those in need of help. A variety of events are scheduled this month for families to participate in. Through the awareness activities held this month our citizens can learn about domestic violence as well as remember those who have suffered the consequences of it. If you have a moment take some time to learn more at an event near you.
